The concerned group, WISCONSIN INDEPENDENT CITIZENS OPPOSING WINDTURBINE SITES (WINDCOWS), was formed by a concerned group of citizens to protect the health, safety and well being of all citizens in regards to the proposed 474 foot tall, 49 turbine Twin Creeks Wind Farm which is proposed for the Townships of Mishicot, Two Creeks and Two Rivers.
Navitas Energy, a privately owned company, of which 75% is foreign owned, has successfully obtained a conditional use permit to start construction of the Twin Creeks Wind Farm. Another wind farm being planned by Emerging Energies consists of about 7 turbines just west of the Twin Creeks Wind Farm. And to those of you from other counties, other states, you will not know that your backyards may be next, until it is too late. The Energy Companies and County officials work together to keep these projects quiet, as suggested in a report from the state of Wisconsin, A Study of Wind Energy Development in Wisconsin, until all permits required to proceed are in place.
The presence of these turbines will negatively affect our community in many ways. Wind energy is expensive and inefficient. We feel all taxpayers of all Counties should be informed about projects of this magnitude, not just those few who will be reaping thousands of dollars annually for allowing these turbines to be sited on their property. We are working with citizens from Calumet, Fondulac, Door, Kewaunee, Dane, Shawano, Trempealeau, Rock, and other communities to assure that we have equal representation at the local and state level.
So please, since they did not feel it was necessary to inform you, contact your town board members, your county board members, your county supervisors, your state legislators, and DNR officials. Ask them, if these wind farms are such a great idea, why did they feel the need to bend the rules and sneak this in the back door to make this happen? It seems they are out to benefit themselves, the energy companies, and the few landowners ( who did not feel the need to inform the neighbors) who will be having turbines sited on their property, with absolutely no consideration for all for the remaining landowners of this county.
Citizens Opposing Wind-turbine Sites (WINDCOWS) would like to encourage you to join the group. (WINDCOWS) they feel the need to protect this community, because these proposed wind farms will have such an enormous impact on all residents in the area.
